A film about the priceless natural resources of Bristol Bay, Alaska. The film stresses the importance of salmon to the Bristol Bay ecosystem & economy, & focuses on the threat of a proposed open-pit copper & gold mine, the Pebble Mine, in the heart of the world’s largest salmon spawning ground.

Fly fishing guides describe their lives in this special part of the world. Stunning mountain panoramas, amazing aerial and underwater footage, and unforgettable images of eagles, brown bears, and other wildlife demonstrate why Bristol Bay is worth protecting.

Tyson Radley O'Connell is a Marysville, Montana native with a lifelong passion for the outdoors. After graduating from Macalester College, he spent five seasons guiding fly fishing in Alaska. Four of these summers were on the world-famous rivers of Bristol Bay.

Tyson spent two months filming River Poets during the summer of 2006. He made River Poets to provide an inside look at the lives of fly fishing guides in Bristol Bay, and to spread awareness about the Pebble Mine, a proposed open-pit mine that threatens the world's largest salmon run.
